Mongolian People’s Party elects a new chairman

The Mongolian Peoples Party (MPP), one of Mongolias oldest political parties, elected a new party chairman on November 21. Prime Minister U. Khurelsukh and Member of Parliament D. Khayankhyarvaa were both in the running for the position, but U.  Khurelsukh won with a 63.1 percent vote from MPP members in attendance. Typically, the chairman of the governments ruling party also holds the prime ministerial seat. After winning the election, U. Khurelsukh said, "I will not let our party be dependent on a particular company, or even donations. We have to build trust with the Mongolian people. To build that trust, we have to work very hard and work with commitment. As long as we, the MPP, can unite as one, we have to work for the Mongolian people."
